Plundermatics: Real-time Interactive Media Segmentation for Audiovisual Analysis, Composition and Performance

نویسنده

  • Mick Grierson
چکیده

This paper presents methods for real-time automated media segmentation, interactive audiovisual analysis, and media search in composition and performance tasks. In addition, we detail a use case where these tools have been deployed successfully as part of high profile public, national broadcast events, installations and exhibitions. These tools utilise a combination of data-mining and information retrieval approaches, automated sound and image segmentation techniques, and fast real-time audiovisual interaction technologies to create user-navigable media search environments, where users explore large sets of audiovisual data in fast, engaging and intuitive ways. This work is supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.

Issues for Designing a flexible expressive audiovisual system for real-time performance & composition

This paper begins by evaluating various systems in terms of factors for building interactive audiovisual environments. The main issues for flexibility and expressiveness in the generation of dynamic sounds and images are then isolated. The design and development of an audiovisual system prototype is described at the end.

An Interactive Computer Vision SystemDyPERS : Dynamic Personal Enhanced

DyPERS, 'Dynamic Personal Enhanced Reality System', uses augmented reality and computer vision to autonomously retrieve 'media memories' based on associations with real objects the user encounters. These are evoked as audio and video clips relevant for the user and overlayed on top of real objects the user encounters. The system utilizes an adaptive, audiovisual learning system on a tetherless ...

A Time-Frequency approach for EEG signal segmentation

The record of human brain neural activities, namely electroencephalogram (EEG), is generally known as a non-stationary and nonlinear signal. In many applications, it is useful to divide the EEGs into segments within which the signals can be considered stationary. Combination of empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and Hilbert transform, called Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT), is a new and powerful ...

Sto(ry)chastics: A Bayesian Network Architecture for User Modeling and Compuatational Storytelling for Interactive Spaces

This paper presents sto(ry)chastics, a user-centered approach for computational storytelling for real-time sensor-driven multimedia audiovisual stories, such as those that are triggered by the body in motion in a sensor-instrumented interactive narrative space. With sto(ry)chastics the coarse and noisy sensor inputs are coupled to digital media outputs via a user model, which is estimated proba...

Adaptive Segmentation with Optimal Window Length Scheme using Fractal Dimension and Wavelet Transform

In many signal processing applications, such as EEG analysis, the non-stationary signal is often required to be segmented into small epochs. This is accomplished by drawing the boundaries of signal at time instances where its statistical characteristics, such as amplitude and/or frequency, change. In the proposed method, the original signal is initially decomposed into signals with different fr...
